Borrowed Players (1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Section Bands only): if you intend to borrow players, please complete this form in full and return it to Lesley Bentley by the Friday one week before the contest (27th February for 1st, 3rd & 4th Section Bands and 6th March for 2nd Section Bands).
Percussion Plan: please complete this form and make sure whoever is doing your draw brings a completed copy to Contest Control with them when we do your draw.
Errata: Kapitol has issued errata for the championship and fourth section area test pieces.
Water Gong, Second Section: All Second Section bands have been advised that there will be a Water Gong provided by G. I. Percussion from Huddersfield, who are also providing all the other percussion equipment. A video of the gong may be viewed here.
Kapitol has issued the following statement:
After speaking to the Music Panel, they believe the water gong is not an issue as the score states that a tam-tam or cymbal can be used instead. Exact wording in the score: “Percussion 2 – water gong (or tam-tam, or cymbal)“. Please let your bands know that they may use any of these options, and that no competing band will be penalised for choosing not to include a water gong. Your competition adjudicators will also need to be informed of this in advance.
BOPA: The Regional Committee has applied for a group BOPA for the contest. All bands will be contacted by the Regional Secretary beforehand and must have the necessary paperwork in hand should we have a visit from Warwickshire County Council or Brass Bands England.
Brass Band England have issued these requirements regarding chaperoning children together with a form which must be completed for each child in your band and be available on the day for checking by Warwickshire County Council or Brass Bands England should they decide to make an inspection.
Bands are requested to inform Lesley Bentley beforehand of the number of children who will be playing in your band at the contest.
Rehearsal Facilities: This document lists the rehearsal facilities we are aware of around Bedworth.
Coach Parking: Coach parking is on Bayton Road Industrial Estate, Colliery Lane, Exhall, Coventry, West Midlands, CV7 9NW.
There are no restrictions and there is room for plenty of coaches: it is a 3 minute drive from The Civic Hall.
Coaches may only drop off at the back of the Civic Hall (there is room for 4 coaches to drop off at the same time) and then return to collect when the Band has finished playing.
ON NO ACCOUNT SHOULD COACHES REMAIN PARKED AT THE BACK OF THE CIVIC HALL – PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR COACH COMPANIES/DRIVERS ARE AWARE OF THIS.
Tickets: If your band is bringing supporters with you, they will require tickets. We strongly advise you to buy your tickets online beforehand. On arrival, our front desk will exchange the tickets for wrist bands which will give you access to the main hall for all the sections on that day. Once in the hall, you can choose where you sit: this year there are no reserved seats.
If your supporters arrive without tickets, facilities will be available to sell wristbands.
Wristbands: Players will have wristbands supplied as normal, which will give to access to the hall for all the sections on that day. In a change from last year, there will be no reserved seats for players: players may now sit anywhere in the hall. ENTRY TO THE AUDITORIUM WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED IF YOU ARE WEARING A WRISTBAND, THAT APPLIES TO PLAYERS AND AUDIENCE.
Results: The Civic Hall management will allow the exit doors to be opened for the results, as long as fire exits are kept clear. Players and their supporters are requested to promptly leave the hall afterwards, so we can prepare the hall for the next section. It is imperative that bands do not congregate by the fire exits to celebrate.
Split Draw: A split draw has been made for all sections, except Championship. Your band secretaries have been informed in which half of the draw your band will be playing. Please do not publish this information on social media.
