The Midlands Area Brass Band Championships is one of the most hotly contested competitions in the UK.
Each year, over 80 bands compete in the five sections for the chance to represent the area at the National Finals in London or Cheltenham, and to determine the grading positions for the following year.
For many years, the contest was held at the Town Hall in Burton, but 2008 saw a move to Bedworth in Warwickshire, and in 2022, following no contest in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, move to the Core Theatre at the Cube in Corby, Northamptonshire. The regional championships is an independent contest run by the regional committee.
